HDZero Halo Stack — Open-Source Power, Modern Gyros, Ready to Build

The HDZero Halo Stack is a high-performance, plug-and-play flight stack built for pilots who want precise control and robust power handling. It’s designed to integrate cleanly with modern FPV builds, including DJI O4 digital systems and HDZero video transmission systems, while prioritizing open-source firmware and durability.

This complete stack consists of two distinct parts — the HDZero Halo flight controller (H7 processor) and the 70A Halo electronic speed controller (ESC).

Why the Halo Stack Stands Out

Two Components, One Strong Foundation

The Halo Stack consists of:

  • Flight Controller (FC): The “brain” of your quad, running Betaflight and handling gyro data, input, and control decisions with an H7 processor and modern ICM gyro.
  • 4-in-1 ESC: Long story short this board will deliver more juice than you are likley to use beyond the most extreme flying. Four motor controllers in a single board, rated for 70 Amp continuous per motor with 100 Amp burst, built on an 8-layer PCB with 24 MOSFETs and protected with conformal coating for durability.

Modern Gyros & Open Firmware

  • Open-Source ESC Firmware (AM32): Prioritized for transparency, community development, and future-proof tuning flexibility.
    • Alternate ESC firmware options (like BLHeli32) are available, but our focus is on open ecosystems wherever possible.
  • ICM42688 Gyroscope: Selected as the preferred modern gyro standard for cleaner signal and future development.

Integrated ELRS & Connectivity

  • An integrated Gemini ELRS receiver runs on the flight controller, providing robust 2.4 GHz control link and diversity antennas right out of the box.
  • Zero-solder connection ports for ESC, receiver, and digital video transmitters keep your build tidy and field-serviceable.
  • Dedicated pads and integrations for digital VTX connections make stacking and wiring streamlined.

Built for Racing & Freestyle

  • A high-speed H7 processor provides responsive control loops and rapid runtime performance.
  • Switchable BEC power outputs ensure reliable power delivery for HD VTX hardware and peripherals.
  • Modular design allows quick swaps and field repairs without complex soldering.

How This Compares to the HDZero Halo Stack

The Flywoo GOKU F743 Pro V2 and the HDZero Halo Stack are both excellent choices, but they are designed with slightly different priorities in mind.

The GOKU F743 Pro V2 focuses on versatility, compact integration, and strong performance in a familiar 30×30 mm format. Its 55 A continuous ESC, dual ICM gyros, and AM32 support make it a solid choice for freestyle and cinematic pilots who want a proven, flexible stack that integrates easily with DJI O4 and O4 Pro systems.

The HDZero Halo Stack, on the other hand, is designed for pilots demanding maximum performance and electrical headroom. With a 70 A continuous ESC, integrated Gemini ELRS receiver and a design optimized for minimal latency and noise, the Halo Stack pushes further into race-grade and high-stress performance territory.

  • If you want a powerful, adaptable stack that fits most 5″ builds cleanly, the GOKU F743 Pro V2 is an excellent choice.
  • If you’re building a quad where absolute performance, current capacity, and integration matter most — especially when pairing with premium digital systems — the HDZero Halo Stack is worth considering.

Both stacks support modern digital video systems and open-source ESC firmware, but the Halo Stack is best suited for pilots who want to push hardware limits with confidence.
